Village tourism festival to be held in Tawang

Tawang Deputy Commissioner Lobsang Tsering convened a review meeting with hoteliers, taxi operators and representatives of Dingsum Kharsaneng area for discussing the preparations for anticipated village tourism festival on October 30 on the sidelines of the Tawang Festival.

The meeting was also attended by Tsetan Chombay, the Festival Director of Tawang festival and Tsering Deki, District Tourism Officer.

Tsering in the meeting said, “We are going to involve our villagers directly into tourism promotion and we all should work united to make it a success. This time we have chosen Kharsaneng area because it is in short distance from the district headquarters Tawang and the climate also remains pleasant.”

He added that the heritage site of Chagzam (14th century Iron chain bridge) Hot spring at Grengkhar and historical site of the birth place of Yum Tsewang Lhamo, mother of great 6th Dalai Lama are all close to the venue.

Tawang Festival Director Tsetan Chombay said that the organizing committee is trying to engage maximum unemployed youths and villagers in village tourism programme.

He urged for cooperation from villagers, taxi operators and hoteliers in making the event a success.
