A Condor 2115 flight had to be diverted towards Jacksonville International Airport in Florida after a violent passenger started to threaten and slap other passengers and crew members of the Germany bound jet.
The jet initially took off from Cancun in Mexico and it was heading towards Frankfurt in Germany. But it was forced to divert and land at JIA on Wednesday, 2nd November.
90 minutes after the flight, the 34-year-old British national from Mexico, Oliver Charles Halliday Gee, hurt a three-year-old, gave death threats to a fellow passenger and after a while, he started to remove his clothes and exposed his private parts. According to FBI’s charging affidavit, it seemed that the man was about to urinate inside the cabin of the flight. According to the witnesses, the man was also insulting the other passengers continuously.
It was found that the man started to demand alcohol before the flight even took off from Mexico.
After the situation started to go out of hand, another passenger, skilled in martial arts, came forward to take the man to the bathroom. While the man was taking Gee to the bathroom, Gee promptly slapped him and a flight attendant several times with his open hand. The man was eventually overpowered by the flight crew and the other passenger and Gee was taken into custody by the Jacksonville Aviation Authority Police after the flight landed at JIA. The man was charged with assault of a flight crew and he could face a penalty of up to 20 years in the federal prison.
Oliver Charles Halliday Gee will be detained until the formal hearing on 7th November, Monday.
