Virgin Atlantic is Europe’s first airline to be Wi-Fi enabled allowing the passengers to browse, email and socialize at 35,000 ft with starting prices of £2.99.
A combination of Panasonic and Gogo technology enables connectivity above 10,000 feet that allows the passengers to connect after a short span of take-off. One can remain online until shortly before landing.
The tariff varies for different carriers, the packages start at £2.99 while flying through Airbus aircraft and Boeing 747s, the rates can go upto £14.99 for complete access throughout the journey.
Delta being Virgin’s transatlantic partner and owns 49% of the UK airline allows full connection throughout its fleet.
A Virgin spokesperson said that the business customers and holidaymakers will remain connected on up to 39 transatlantic flights per day as Virgin Atlantic and partner Delta Air Lines will be the only joint venture to offer the Wi-Fi services.
