Virgin Voyages Cruise Lines recently called off the inaugural events of its brand new cruise Scarlet Lady that was set to be showcased on March in New York. The cruise ship was supposed to visit New York and be a part of introductory events spanning two nights. The unexpected cancellation decision arrived at the very last moment before the cruise set sail. The Scarlet Lady will now sail straightaway to its homeport in Miami.
All the participants of the event have been informed about the cancellation by the cruise lines through a letter. Michelle Estevam, Senior Manager of Public Relations and Lifestyle Media, Virgin Voyages said in a statement that though the outbreak of the deadly coronavirus is not officially sited as a reason influencing the decision, the presence of the virus is inevitably felt. She mentioned that in light of the present headlines about the virus, the cruise lines want to ensure that every involved individual is on the same page about the right time for celebrations. She shared how Virgin Voyages understand that many people might want to concentrate on different things at present. It is with this particular thought that the cruise lines have decided to reschedule their upcoming Showcase Tour stop alongside other events in New York City.
Estevam further added that Virgin Voyages have no health issues or concerns onboard in Scarlet Lady. The cruise lines have enhanced their health safety processes and protocols when they took delivery of the Scarlet Lady and aim to keep their crew and visitors safe and happy.
At present, there are no other events scheduled for the cruise line in New York. The Scarlet Lady would be sailed back to Miami which will be her new home. Virgin Voyages will further plan the launch of the ship and welcome their new sailors aboard for the very first from Miami itself.
