The Immigration Bureau is thinking about opening more lanes for visa processing to minimize the lengthy queues.
A visa on arrival permits passport holders of 18 nationalities to enter Thailand for the purpose of tourism for a time frame not exceeding 15 days. In fact it is being offered at various designated immigration checkpoints in airports all across the world.
It is quite popular among Indian and Chinese tourists and issued majorly at Suvarnabhumi and Don Muang airports with as many as about 7,000 tourists applying for them per day.
Ideally this process should be consuming about three minutes to be completed but the abrupt influxes of applicants might lead to very long queues.
Pol Gen Pruettipong Prayoonsiri who is the director of Immigration Police Division 2 mentioned that the Immigration Bureau is eager for solutions that do not compromise security like boosting staff in busy periods.
