Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority, Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation and the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Board are planning to set longest rope way at Dolphin’s Nose, located near Vizag in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.
The stakeholders like the Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (VUDA), Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) and AP Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) have preliminarily recognized the two stretches -Kailasagiri to Simhachalam hills and Kailasagiri to Dolphin’s Nose -to set up the rope way.
The rope way from Kailasagiri to Dolphin’s Nose may pass over the entire RK Beach Road, which is stretching a covering nearly 12 km, while the one between Kailasagiri and Simhachalam will be less than 2 km, when rope way will launch.
The ropeway project is a part of renovation or re-development of Kailasagiri tourism spots which will to be funded by the World Bank to promote tourism in Andhra Pradesh.
An Ahmedabad-based consulting agency has been asked to study the viabilities of the two stretches and prepare a detailed project report (DPR).
The agency would charge 4 crore to do the work and likely to hand over the DPR in next three months.
Once the project report is prepared, the stakeholders of Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (VUDA), Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) and AP Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) will grasp an appraisal meeting before confirming the model suggested by the agency.
Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (VUDA) is planning to build only one rope way. The rope way from Kailasagiri to Dolphin’s Nose will be built to shorten down the distances.
APTDC divisional manager TV Sudarshana Rao said that if the ropeway project is confirmed for the stretch between Kailasagiri and Dolphin’s Nose, it will be the center of attraction of the Vishakhapatnam city.
Here the tourists can see a panoramic view of the sea on one side and lush green hills on the other while travelling in the glass-domed cable cars.
The Tourism department of Andhra Pradesh have earned around 8.60 crore by serving 2.55 lakh tourists from April to July in this current year.
