The British economy will get an estimated 2.35-billion-U.S. dollar boost as per a track survey released on Wednesday revealing that people in Britain were going to coasts, scenic areas and tourism cities.

VisitEngland mentioned on Wednesday that around 7.4 million people are planning an overnight-stay holiday in Britain during this weekend’s Easter holiday.

According to VisitEngland the figures were highest since the survey began in 2013 and in 2018,  4.8 million people in Britain had planned to take an overnight stay during Easter. In the year 2015 it was 4.6 million.

Starting from Friday and continuing into Monday, Easter is one of the biggest public holiday periods in Britain.

Tourism Minister Michael Ellis said that the UK has world-class cities, stunning landscapes, fascinating museums and historic sites that millions of people flock to each year.

He was happy to see  the turnout of  people planning a staycation this Easter so that they can enjoy and explore superb destinations across the country.

VisitEngland Director Patricia Yates mentioned that is great to see so many Brits are planning holidays at home in the UK that will bring a boost for businesses and local economies as the summer season gets underway.

She went on saying that holiday at home is still a great choice with the certainty of budgeting, the ease, convenience and quality offered so that people are tempted to explore beyond their doorstep.

The Easter Trip Tracker survey showed that more than seven million people in Britain were still undecided on taking their overnight trip during Easter. Around a third waited to see the weather conditions.

This year ‘microgapping’ experience has been promoted by the VisitEngland  aimed at the more young people who want to take short-breaks  and indulge in activities taken during the gap-year. This can  be condensed into a short domestic break of one –to-three nights in Britain.

A VisitEngland spokesperson mentioned that  the statistics show that 16-to-34 year olds have the lowest growth across all age groups for taking holidays at home during the last decade.

VisitEngland  wants to inspire so that they take a holiday at home and throughout their lifetimes. It is  targeting to ignite the passion for travel for this  the lost generation.
