GoToo.com provides residents and visitors with tailored travel information to explore and get around the area, as well as providing a range of travel tools and options to ease the daily commute.
GoToo is a travel information website that has people as its focus, recognising that visitors are looking for places to visit before they travel and want to know how to get there; residents are keen to find their travel options for getting around the area and commuters are looking for travel information while on the move.
GoToo has been designed to provide travel information where and when it is needed across a range of platforms – PC’s, laptops, tablets and smartphones.
Councillor Will Dawson, Tactran’s Chair and Dundee City Council’s City Development Convener, said: “Whether you’re a tourist visiting the area, a resident exploring your travel options or a commuter looking for the latest travel information, GoToo has it covered”
“It has been developed to act as a regional resource using existing travel information from local and national websites, tailoring this to provide information for all types of users’ transport needs – to, from and within the Tactran region.
“Tactran has worked with various organisations including Angus, Dundee City, Perth & Kinross and Stirling Councils, VisitScotland, NHS, University of Dundee and Traveline Scotland to provide this people focussed travel website.
Jim Clarkson, Regional Partnerships Director at VisitScotland said: “We’re delighted to welcome GoToo to the market, a resource that will no doubt make it even easier for people to travel around the area. Visitors often conduct lots of research online before they travel and our website. a definitive guide to Scotland, attracts around 13 million people a year.”
“After we welcomed the world in 2014 with the XX Commonwealth Games, the Ryder Cup and countless Homecoming events, there’s no doubt that GoToo will help attract even more visitors to Scotland by allowing people to get easy access to travel information via PC, laptop, tablet or smartphone.”
Councillor John Kellas, Convener of Perth & Kinross Council’s Enterprise & Infrastructure Committee, said: “The new GoToo website is a wonderful resource for anyone looking for travel information for Perth and Kinross, and the surrounding areas of Angus, Dundee and Stirling. However, it is more than just a travel information site and will be great for anyone coming in to the area to explore, or for people looking for something to do, by including local attractions and events as well as information on how to get to them.
“Other features like the real time travel information for rail, buses and the trunk roads could be invaluable, especially during the winter months. The site is aimed at a wide range of people and also includes information for pedestrians and cyclists – it really is tailored to meet the needs of all travellers.”
Trudy Cunningham, University of Dundee’s Environment & Sustainability officer said: “GoToo will be very useful for staff, students and visitors to the University. Students arrive as visitors looking to explore the area, and then later they become residents or commuters to the University, so I am sure this website will be used in all stages of their academic journey.”
