“Every day we give online visitors compelling reasons to plan a trip to Philadelphia, and we believe this new view of the city will give the 20 million people who use visitphilly.com and uwishunu.com each year even more reasons to visit and do more while they’re here,” said Meryl Levitz, president and CEO, VISIT PHILADELPHIA.
Viewable on visitphilly.com from desktop, smartphone or tablet, the experience spotlights more than two dozen legendary sites and attractions—more than half of which are in Philadelphia’s Historic District. Highlights from the engaging photos and video include the 72 Rocky Steps at the Philadelphia Museum of Art and The Franklin Institute’s rotunda, featuring the 20-foot Benjamin Franklin National Memorial.
The interactive visual assets are also available for Android and iPhone users in the “Visit Philly” app from Google Play and the App Store. Users can find the app by searching “Visit Philly” in Google Play and the App Store.
To capture the footage, VISIT PHILADELPHIA worked with YouVisit, which has created more than 1,000 virtual experiences for destinations such as Paris and New York. According to research by the International Data Corporation, VR is expected to be a $162 billion industry by 2020.
