Visit Seattle, Seattle’s destination marketing organization, and CenturyLink are collaborating to provide free wireless Internet access at the entrance to Pike Place Market, one of Seattle’s most visited tourist destinations. Market Information Center Wi-Fi powered by CenturyLink will be available starting today.
“More than 11 million tourists visit Pike Place Market every year,” said Tom Norwalk, President and CEO of Visit Seattle. “Free Wi-Fi will enhance the visitor experience by making it easier, more convenient, and more cost-effective for visitors, particularly travelers from overseas, to access the internet and share digital content of Pike Place Market, one of the most photographed backdrops in Seattle.”
Sue Anderson, Vice president of operations for CenturyLink shares the Visit Seattle vision. “We are committed to bringing the most robust internet speeds and services to the Puget Sound area and are excited about our partnership with Visit Seattle as we work together to connect those visiting locally or globally to the power of the digital world,” she said.
Those accessing free Wi-Fi will log in to a Visit Seattle welcome page where they can also get information about Pike Place Market, local restaurants and attractions, as well as maps to help guide their Seattle visit. Market Information Center Wi-Fi powered by CenturyLink is available in one-hour increments and can be accessed an unlimited number of times. It will extend to the atrium south of Pike Street and into the market near the World Famous Pike Place Fish Market and Rachel The Piggy Bank.
