The Dead Sea, one of the most maverick travel destinations of the world is gradually drying up. the heat of the Middle Eastern sun is causing the shrinking of sea and it will be next to impossible to find extra water to sustain the water volume of the sea.
One of the well-known facts about Dead Sea is that people can’t sink in it as it is about nine times saltier than the other oceans of the world. This amazing mineral-rich feature of the Sea makes it one of the most loved travel destinations of Holy Land or Jordan.
However, the density and saltiness of the Dead Sea is rising and might eventually lead to a situation where it will reach a point where the rate of evaporation will reach a kind of equilibrium. And, what might then happen is it can grow much smaller than the present size but it will not completely be dead.
What is alarming is that it is shrinking at a rapid rate, as rapid as three feet a year. Putting things into perspective, the Dead Sea is the lowest point on the planet and shrinking at a metre deep every year, the planet’s lowest point is being recalibrated on an annual basis.
Even after shrinking and changing, the Dead Sea continues to be economically viable. Jordan or Israel export cosmetic products manufactured in the area and tourists can choose to visit the destination without any unnecessary fear.
