Visitors to pay $10 as entry fee to British Virgin Islands

britishAn environment and tourism levy of $10 will be paid by the visitors to the British Virgin Islands as announced by the government to be effective from September 1.

 

The levy was being implemented on June 9, after the House of Assembly passed the Environmental Protection and Tourism Improvement Fund Act 2017. The Act was gazette on June 12 making way for the visitors arriving in the territory through air or sea to pay the fee.

 

The government of the British Virgins Islands mentioned that the funds collected will be utilized to facilitate the environmental protection and improvement along with the climate change, the maintenance and development of tourists sites and other tourism related activities.

 

Residents, visitors re-entering the islands, people in transit who do not leave the airport or dock and vessels’ crew will be exempted from the entry fee.
