Western AustraliaIn a bid to reduce red tape and approval roadblocks, the State Government of West Australia is focusing on ecotourism.

Public input is welcomed on the #ShredTheRed campaign, which involves 90 days of analysis on opening bottlenecks to expedite business development and job creation.
Alongside ecotourism, other new focus areas for #ShredTheRed are aquaculture and building approvals (residential and commercial).

Restaurant start-ups were the first target for #ShredTheRed. The evaluation identified 14 ‘pain points’ to be reformed and resulted in a streamlined guide to help new restaurant owners.

The $1.6 million initiative now has its sights set on ecotourism, which will undergo the 90-day analysis – led by the Department of Finance’s Economic Reform Unit – with the aim of uncovering fast and practical reform recommendations.
