Waldorf Hilton to revolutionse hotel experience with Digital keys

digitalThe smartphones will come handy for guests at the Waldorf Hilton enriching their travel experience and control.


Digital keys provided by Hilton to its Hilton Honors members later this month will enable them to turn their phone into a room key.


The Hilton Honor Apps enabled at the front desk will give access of the guest to their room and other areas permitted for guests.


The rollout of digital check-in and room selection is the first to be launched in the industry letting the guest avail the mobile-enabled room key technology. With this the guests can select the exact room depending on the hotel layout and its surroundings.



The award winning Hilton Honors app will enable its member to open the door of the room at the touch of a button in a simple and secured manner.



Geraldine Calpin, chief marketing officer, Hilton said that and an investment of  $550 million in global technology infrastructure was used to lay the foundations bringing  to market the latest digital tools.



Guests will be able to personalize their experience at every stage throughout their journey with  the digital tools.



The service will be activated a day before arrival where the Hilton honors members will book directly and select desired rooms via their smartphones using the digital check-in. The guest will further be asked about the digital Key during their stay.



On the day of check in, once the room is ready they will get a notification via the app and need to pass by the front desk to get their Digital Key enabled before heading towards their room.



With a simple press on the virtual ‘unlock’ button on the app the guest can unlock the door.



Guy Hilton, general manager, The Waldorf Hilton, further added that Hilton’s strategic direction is about providing a better experience for guests. Digital Key is designed to complement our team members’ ability to provide unforgettable service and hospitality.



Though every guest will have their own preference services rendering to face-to-face interaction will still be provided.


The digital world is ever evolving and Hilton believes in providing seamless, convenient and secure services to the guests.


Earlier the Digital Key was launched in the US and Canada enabling the guests to unlock 1,700 hotels across the world.


Till now 11 million doors have been opened by the guests since the launch of the technology and the app  has been downloaded once in every eight seconds.
