Walt Disney announced the closure of Disneyland and all Walt Disney theme parks last week as a response to the deadly coronavirus outbreak. Now, the company announced that it would be closing down all of its hotel and retail stores as the virus continue to spread across the globe. This would also include the temporary closure of Disney Springs and Downtown Disney.

Earlier Disney Springs in Florida remained open to serve the guests staying at Walt Disney’s Hotel. However, the company took to social media to announce that all of its hotels would be closing down by Friday, the 20th of March 2020. Disney’s DVC Vero Beach Resort will also come under the closure plan. The time allotted for closure would also guests to make other arrangements for accommodation.

While it would be closing all of its owned and operated properties in Anaheim (Downtown Disney) and Orlando (Disney Springs) from Tuesday, 17th March 2020, individual tenants will decide whether to continue or adjust with the operations.

The hotels are not immediately shut down and will be kept open through this week so guests are able to make travel arrangements to leave the venue and the airports are not overwhelmed to make arrangements for guests with immediate effect.

Walt Disney has also promised to continue monitoring the situation and maintain a regular contract with the health experts and appropriate officials.  However, as the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention has recommended cancellation of all public gatherings and events involving more than 50 people for the next eight weeks, Disney venues can remain closed for a longer period time.
