Ramblers Worldwide Holidays is offering a week-long guided walking holiday in Ypres Salient in Belgium, which was the scene of some of the battles of World War One.
With departure dates available from April, the commemorative guided walk embraces Ypres, the battlefields of Flanders Fields, and the countryside and villages of Belgium’s Westhoek.
A group trip will also comprise visits to Kemmelberg and Rodeberg; Kemel and Wijschate; the Passchendaele Ridge and Tyne Cot (reportedly the largest British war cemetery on the continent) and the Menin Gate Memorial.
The Ypres Salient was formed by British, French, Canadian and Belgian defensive forces against German invasion during the 1914 ‘Race to the Sea’ attack, culminating in the first battle of Ypres, and later the second and third battles in 1915 and 1917.
Group travel organisers will find prices include return rail travel to Ypres, local transport costs and half-board accommodation.
