Wellington Railway Station closed due to adverse weather conditions

Kiwi RailAll metro train services have been suspended and the Wellington Railway Station closed, due to adverse weather conditions in Wellington.

The decision to close the station was made due to safety concerns because of crowding. Tranz Metro staff are working closely with affected passengers to keep them informed of the situation and liaising with NZTA and Police.

 

Rail freight services are also being held up by track blockages.

 

Capital Connection return to Palmerston North with passengers because of track and state highway blockage. There will be no service tonight and further updates later today on status of tomorrow’s service, which will be dependent on status of track repairs.

 

The Northern Explorer is likely to terminate at Palmerston North – bus replacements on standby

 

It is expected that afternoon peak services will be significantly disrupted and more information will be available this afternoon. Commuters are advised to avoid unnecessary travel and plan travel for this afternoon and evening carefully. Keep checking the Tranz Metro website for updates at www.tranzmetro.co.nz and check for road closures.
