The seven arts venues are in Geraldton, Bunbury, Mandurah, Albany, Merredin, Narrogin and Port Hedland.
West Australia Culture and the Arts Minister John Day said projects included upgrading stage lighting, introducing digital cinema projection, providing new audio systems, and installing new digital signage and stage monitoring systems.
“These projects will ensure the seven venues are equipped to accommodate and support regional performing arts groups as well as enable more performing arts groups to tour the regions,” Mr Day said.
“For example, the Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre will receive nearly $250,000 to upgrade digital cinema projection, and audio and lighting systems, enabling the centre to continue to attract the best shows to Bunbury.
“More than $265,000 will enable the Matt Dann Theatre in Port Hedland to present a broader range of performances more frequently.”
Regional Development Minister Terry Redman said creating opportunities for culture and the arts would support economic development and build vibrant communities in regional WA.
