Westpac paints Sydney red for Chinese New Year celebrations

Chinese New YearThe colour red is an important colour during Chinese New Year, as it scares away bad fortune to ensure a happy and prosperous new year.

To bring the feel of the festival to the entire city, Westpac is painting the town red with illuminations on major buildings and landmarks around Sydney.

From the start of Sydney’s 2016 festival, Chinese New Year’s Eve and Chinese New Year’s Day (6-8 February), Circular Quay will be bathed in red with the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Sydney Opera House the Capitol Theatre and Circular Quay Station, all glowing with lucky red light. Sydney Town Hall will be lighting up red for the entire festival.

The world-famous iconic structures will glow the lucky red colour from 8pm until midnight from the festival launch on Saturday 6 February.
