It is truly amazing taking on the winter tour wrapped up in our warm overalls to fight off the cold winter breeze. We are truly excited to see what this winter season brings us, as last year was simply incredible. We began the season with blue whales and fin whales along with the more frequent species, namely minke whales, humpback whales, white beaked dolphins and harbour porpoises. Later in the season orcas (killer whales) and humpback whales became the stars of our tours day after day. To keep up to date with our sightings we recommend following our online Whale Diary.
Winter tourism in Iceland is always increasing and daily whale watching tours is a great option for a wide variety of tourists in Iceland. In addition to the magnificent wildlife these are the tours that implicitly become midnight tours on the way back because of the few arctic hours of daylight.
It is our experience and flexibility that makes winter whale watching possible in Iceland. Knowing the area is of course very important but also keeping an open mind. Although Reykjavík is our main departure point we keep the option open in winter time to shuttle our guests to the nearby harbours if conditions are more convenient there.
