Whitsunday tourism flourishes regardless of Debbie Cyclone

No one can actually argue on this statement as recent news says that more than 20 Whitsunday businesses have been finally shortlisted for the 2017 Queensland Tourism Awards.

Four months back, severe Category 4 Cyclone Debbie devastated the Whitsunday Coast to a huge extent.

An entire list of local entrants will be disclosed after submissions close on August 24.
Queensland Tourism Industry Council chief executive Daniel Gschwind expressed that the huge number of entries would definitely send a positive message to the world backpackers as well as fellow Australian travelers.

To quote Mr Gschwind, “The strong list of nominations is testament to the resilience and strength of the Whitsunday community and the tourism industry in the region. We know operators in the Whitsundays, together with Tourism Whitsundays, have been working tirelessly to reopen businesses and promote the region.”

In 2016, the Whitsunday experienced a year of achievement carrying 12 accolades last year’s awards which includes four gold honors which were presented to Ocean Rafting, BIG4 Adventure Whitsunday Resort, Cruise Whitsunday’s and Pinnacles Resort respectively.
