Wilhelmshöhe Park in Kassel in northern Hessen was added to the list of UNESCO World Heritage sites in 2013. This one-of-a-kind cultural monument, the largest hillside park in Europe, is a masterpiece of baroque landscape design.
Every Wednesday and Sunday from May to October you can see the park’s magnificent cascades and fountains in action. Follow the water’s course from its starting point up by the Hercules monument right the way to the palace lake fountain, where the water is propelled 50 metres skyward.
A special tip: on the first Saturday of the month from June to September the cascades and fountains are lit up by incredible illuminations – the perfect opportunity to experience Wilhelmshöhe Park at night.
