Will Waggott joins Thomas Cook

Will Waggott will join Thomas Cook group as chief of tour operating and take up the role on March 11th.

Waggot holds more than 20 years of experience in the global travel industry and prior to this served as the chief executive of Travelopia ( This is a leading specialist travel group of TUI launched in 2017).

To drive greater efficiencies across the business , to accelaratse Thomas Cook’s strategy of differentiation, digitalistaion of sales channels and strengthening the own-brand hotel portfolio.

Before joining the Thomson Travel Group in 2001 he started his career in the leisure travel industry at Airtours. He also held a number of senior roles at TUI, he was the commercial director before being appointed as the chief financial officer of TUI Travel in 2010.
In his new role he will look after the tour operator businesses, with oversight of the UK, continental Europe and northern Europe.

He will address the performance in the UK tour operator where the challenges of transformation in a competitive environment “remain significant”.

Peter Fankhauser, chief executive of Thomas Cook, said that Waggott brings substantial experience in operating and transforming leisure travel businesses.

He will be delivering a more streamlines and consistent approach across their tour operating business along with giving new focus to the UK market.
