Second quarter passenger traffic at Winnipeg Richardson International Airport increased 4.28% as compared to the second quarter of 2014. Consolidated Revenue was $26.9 million for the second quarter, compared to $24.2 million for the same period in 2014. Earnings before interest, depreciation and taxes were $13.7 million, compared to $11.4 million for the same period in 2014.

The second quarter saw many exciting announcements which will benefit travellers and our local community. NewLeaf Travel Company Inc. announced Winnipeg Richardson International Airport as its headquarters, creating jobs and growth for the local economy, as well as increasing flight options for travellers. Green Carrot Juice Company opened in the domestic passenger boarding lounge and has been serving up healthy options. Celebrity Cruises introduced Caribbean cruise vacation packages featuring exclusive non-stop flights from Winnipeg Richardson International Airport.
Our airport led the way in Winnipeg welcoming thousands of international visitors for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015. Teams, coaches and fans were treated to a “Friendly Manitoba” welcome. Winnipeg Airports Authority staff planted their 20th annual garden in support of Winnipeg Harvest’s Grow-A-Row program, which helps feed hungry families in our community.
In partnership with local agencies and emergency response personnel, Winnipeg Airports Authority held a live emergency exercise on June 3 to review and practice emergency response procedures. These exercises serve to improve communication, strengthen working relationships and assure effective processes are in place in the event of future emergencies.
