To quote Omar Al Mubarak, director general of licensing at the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTH) while stating in Arab News on Thursday, “The tourist visa will be a single-entry visa, and valid for 30 days maximum. This visa is added to those currently available in the Kingdom. It is independent of work, visit, Hajj and Umrah visas.”
Previous month, Prince Sultan Bin Salman Bin Abdul Aziz, the president of the Commission, verified that all approvals related to government were in place related to the launch of electronic visas in 2018 to applicants who are allowed by their countries to visit Saudi Arabia.
Al Mubarak said that “the Commission’s IT department is currently building an electronic system for the issuance of tourist visas, coordinating with representatives of the National Information Centre and the Foreign Ministry.”
Saudi Arabia is introducing huge projects to perk up the tourism industry and improve the visitor number of the kingdom under a highly ambitious campaign headed by Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman to expand the financial system and to drop its ultra-conservative image to the world.
Expanding the tourism sector and emphasizing its new destinations to the world, the vast kingdom will develop several employment opportunities for Saudi nationals.
