Gatwick AirportWondertree, the relaxed contemporary family restaurant, is to open at the end of June 2015 at Gatwick Airport’s South Terminal.  Customers at Wondertree will be able to enjoy either dining in the restaurant or a Wondertree take-away.

Food will be cooked to order from an open plan kitchen featuring daily fresh breads, morning pastries, global salads, gluten-free options and children’s’ menus. Passengers can order a coffee or beer through to a full family meal from a menu that includes artisan flat breads, healthy fresh sharing platters as well as all-day breakfast dishes.  Drinks include smoothies, freshly-pressed juices and shakes along with wine from independent suppliers, ciders and a range of six different sangrias.

Wondertree gets its name from the eight foot ‘wonder’ trees which adorn the restaurant. These stunningly illuminated polycarbonate leaves are constantly changing colour reflecting the time of day, the time of year or even to highlight special occasions.

Wondertree is a collaboration between Giraffe restaurants and The Restaurant Group (TRG concessions). At over 5,000 sq ft with 200 covers Wondertree Gatwick has been designed to give diners unrivalled views of Gatwick’s runway.

Charlotte Christiansen, Business Development Manager, Gatwick Airport said: “Wondertree is the latest addition to Gatwick’s restaurant revolution which has seen 15 new food outlets open in the past three years. It provides further choice for our passengers offering fresh and exciting world food in a contemporary and relaxed restaurant, whilst maintaining Gatwick’s promise for our food to arrive within 15 minutes.”

Andrew Jacobs, co-founder of giraffe restaurants comments: “We’re hugely excited to bring Wondertree to Gatwick Airport’s South Terminal. This is a fantastic opportunity to build on our successful relationship with TRG in creating the premium casual dining formats in UK airports.”

Nick Ayerst, Managing Director, TRG Concessions said: “When challenged by Gatwick to offer an iconic casual restaurant for the South Terminal, we naturally thought of Wondertree. Wondertree embraces the new generation of eating and drinking and promises to provide a unique experience for Gatwick passengers. We are delighted to have won the space and are committed to serving Gatwick Airport and its passengers for years to come.”
