World Tourism Forum sets the platform for industry leaders to discuss future of tourism

Apart from the networking session, the conference served as an introduction of this major tourism forum before the leaders of the world tourism steps in to discuss the future of world tourism and the imperative concerns of the industry.

 

World Tourism Forum, known as the Davos of tourism will be held in Istanbul on 4-6 February. Border security affecting tourism sector and the new market Africa will be discussed at the summit, which will be the second held this year. At the press conference held at Çırağan Palace Kempinski before World Tourism Forum, Bulut Bağcı, the President of WTF stated “The heart of tourism will be beating in Istanbul. We are planning to host 7,000 people in the summit where 100 connoisseurs of tourism will be attending as speakers.”

 

 
S1540083Leaders steering the world tourism will come together at the World Tourism Forum which will be held for the second time this year in Istanbul. The new market ‘Africa’ and the effects of the recent border security incidents on tourism will be discussed at the summit, which will take place at Istanbul Lütfi Kırdar Convention and Exhibition Center on 4-6 February. The colossal organization, which 7,000 visitors in total with 4,000 local and 3,000 foreign visitors are expected to attend, is realized under the leadership of Bulut Bağcı, the President of World Tourism Forum. WTF President Bulut Bağcı met with press members before the summit and stated that this second summit being held this year will contribute greatly to Turkish tourism.

 

 

7,000 participants are expected
Bulut Bağcı expressed that they decided to hold an organization at the Davos Summit standards after the Davos Summit they attended last year, and added: “Our aim is to bring investors and leaders steering the world tourism together in Istanbul, a city where civilizations have coexisted for centuries. Last April, we held the World Tourism Forum for the first time and discussed the problems of the industry. And this year, we will be hosting 7,000 participants in Istanbul at the organization where 100 connoisseurs of the tourism industry will take part as speakers.”
We will bring out the potential of Turkish tourism
Providing information on the forum which will bring together opinion leaders, investors, political authorities and industry representatives setting the trends in tourism, Bağcı remarked: “We will discuss the outcomes of the Mediterranean summit, new trends in tourism and the effects of the international crisis on the industry at World Tourism Forum. Turkish economy will also be at the top of the summit’s agenda.” Bağcı also underlined that the summit will also provide global publicity forTurkey and continued: “We will promote the potential of the Turkish tourism industry. We will continue our efforts to increase our country’s tourism income and to contribute to the economy.”

 

 

The leaders of the industry will meet in Istanbul
The second World Tourism Forum which will be held with the participation of Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the President of the Republic of Turkey will bring together opinion leaders, investors, political authorities and industry representatives setting the trends in tourism in Istanbul.The summit will take place at Istanbul Lütfi Kırdar Convention and Exhibition Center. The summit’s speakers will include Mr. Mehmet Şimşek – Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey, Mahir Ünal – Republic of Turkey Minister of Culture and Tourism, José Manuel Barroso – the former President of the European Commission, Başaran Ulusoy – the President of the Association of Turkish Travel Agencies (TURSAB), Sani Şener – CEO of TAV Airports Holding, Mark Tanzer – the CEO of ABTA, SergeTrigano – thefounder of Mama Shelter and Rolf Schrömgens – the founding partner of Trivago and Mr. Hakan Ateş – CEO of Deniz Bank.

 

The Oscars of the Industry Will Find their Owners
The 2nd “World Tourism Awards,” which is also known as the “Oscars of World Tourism”, will be held at the Çırağan Palace on the evening of February 5 this year with the participation of approximately one thousand guests. At the end of the night, awards in over 40 categories will find their owners.

    Well done Turkey, however what are the opportunities for the sub Saharan African region. In most instances its South Africa and North Africa that are prominently mentioned in these forums. East Africa and Uganda in particular have all the potential to develop into very vibrant destinations but we lack the chances.
    What is in for us East Africa and Uganda in particular?
