Economy minister Artsvik Minasyan announced that the 38th annual plenary session of affiliated members organised by The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) will be held in Yeravan on October 1-4.
Minasyan said, “This event is expected to greatly enhance the standing of Armenia as a tourism country, and we expect it to increase the number of foreign tourists visiting our country.”
UNWTO thinks that this is an amazing opportunity for associated members to meet and sicuss various issues which will lead to the overall growth of the sector. This year, the session is going to be held with novel ideas, and before the actual sessions start, there will be numerous social activities like enjoying the Armenia Wine Festival and participating in the celebration of International Tourism Day.
As per statistics report, in the first 3 months of the fiscal year, the number of visitors coming to Armenia was over 252,000 people, and that is 8.6% more than what was within the same period of 2015. Around 1.192 million tourists visited Armenia in 2015, which was 1 % more in 2014.
