Wynn Las Vegas evacuated, police says Strip hotel is safe

Published on : Wednesday, December 26, 2018

Wynn Las Vegas was briefly evacuated during Christmas evening, but Las Vegas police said there was no cause for caution.

“There is no law enforcement or emergency activity at the hotel,” Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Jason Johansson told.

Michael Weaver, a Wynn Las Vegas spokesman, said smoke in one of the resort’s kitchens triggered an alarm, prompting an automated guest evacuation announcement.

“When we determined there was no guest risk, the evacuation was ceased and we returned to normal operation,” Weaver said in an emailed statement.

During the evacuation, reports from concerned Wynn guests and employees started swirling on social media. But Johansson, the police lieutenant, said the alarm was cleared without incident.

Clark County firefighters were never dispatched to the resort, Deputy Chief Jeff Buchanan told.
