The Wytheville Tourism Department is all geared-up to lure tech-savvy millennials after receiving $25,000 state grant. The application for the grant says that the fund will be utilized to ‘Create Your Own Story in Wytheville, Virginia’ program. This two-fold approach will find out various new and innovative techniques to market the town to the world.
To start with, the market will collaborate with travel bloggers and writers and help them out in creating different fascinating travel stories about Wytheville covering various travel niches. Next, the town will attract the millennials through those published stories in online, print and video format as mentioned by Rosa Lee Jude in an email, the tourism director.
The application says, ‘’the internet is used as the primary source for information gathering for all age groups today. The millennials are even more aggressive with their use and rely on the experiences of others to help influence their choices. By working with freelance writers, we will develop blog content that will target topics and interests which are the most appealing to this age group such as outdoor recreation, music, and culinary experiences. Through storytelling, we will showcase Wytheville as a destination that offers authentic, engaging experiences that have relevance to their interests.”
