“Keeping with our theme of food, wine, music and golf we are very excited to bring three nights of music performed by these talented musicians to the Safeway Open for our fans to enjoy”, said Jeff Sanders, Executive Director of the Safeway Open. “These musicians complement our partnerships with world famous chefs, Thomas Keller, Masaharu Morimoto and Charlie Palmer and more than 20 of Napa’s top wineries – it’s more than a golf tournament, Napa style!”
The music performances will kick off the evening of Thursday, October 13 with the New York- based alternative rock group, X Ambassadors with their smash hits “Renegades” and “Unsteady”. The following night fans can see Charles Kelley, front man of multi-Grammy Award winning and Platinum selling super-group Lady Antebellum, currently touring with his solo album The Driver. The acts will conclude Saturday evening with the red hot indie pop duo, Capital Cities, and their #1 hit “Safe and Sound.” Admission to all three shows is included with a golf tournament ticket at no additional charge. Daily event tickets can be purchased at www.safewayopen.com starting at just $30.
“We want the Safeway Open to be fun and enjoyable for everyone. We hope by bringing together great food, wine, music and world class PGA TOUR golf that we are providing a unique experience for the fans at this year’s tournament. And, it is very important to us to give back to charities, including those in Napa Valley, through the net proceeds of the tournament,” said Robert Miller, Executive Chairman and CEO of Albertsons Companies, the parent company of Safeway.
This is Safeway’s inaugural year as title sponsor of the first event of the 2016 – 2017 PGA TOUR season. Last year, the tournament boasted top golfers including, Rory McIlroy, Brandt Snedeker and Justin Rose. This year an even stronger field of top talent is expected as 144 of the world’s best golfers will descend on Napa for the exciting, fan-friendly event.
Earlier this year, Safeway and the PGA TOUR entered a five-year agreement running through 2020 that will keep the event in Napa at Silverado Resort and Spa for the duration.
