Mr Xavier-Luc Duval, the Deputy Prime Minister of Mauritius and holding also the tourism portfolio used his working visit to seychelles recently to meet with Mr Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture to discuss the strengthening of relationship between the two sister islands.
Both Mauritius and the Seychelles are part of the Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands grouping but both alongside Reunion also pride themselves as being the Creole Islands of the Indian Ocean.
Deputy Prime Minister Duval and Minister St.Ange discussed the trends in tourism and they both analyzed their respective island’s desire to see cruise ship business increase in the Indian Ocean as a whole. “We touched in an open and frank manner the tourism industry of our region and how we can strengthen our working relationship to be better able to increase business to the region as a whole. We discussed the product of our islands and of the hotel grading or classification program we are both launching for our islands tourism industry” Minister Alain St.Ange said.
“I thanked the Deputy Prime Minister of Mauritius for being present for the 5th Anniversary of the Seychelles Carnaval International de Victoria and for ensuring that a delegation from Mauritius was also present in the carnival parade” the seychelles Minister said.
Minister St.Ange was present at State House in Seychelles was the Mauritian Deputy Prime Minister, who was on a working visit at the time of the last carnival, was received by President James Michel.
