In February, Moroccan tourism recorded a very positive growth with 10.6 percent increase in tourist arrivals both in terms of overnight stays with 18.8 percent and border crossings in tourist accommodation establishments.
As per the Ministry of Tourism, in 2017, tourist activity seems to be recovering and going to further heights. To take a note, very positive outcome have been registered ever since November 2016. Traditional and recently growing markets have immensely contributed to this upward trend from the end of February 2017 impacting positively the major attractions of Morocco.
The French, Spanish, German and British marked respective increases of 6 percent, 22 percent, 19 percent and 7 percent in their traditional markets. Emerging markets showed strong growth imprint with an increase of 923 percent for the Chinese market, 82 percent for Russia, 62 percent for Japan, 32 percent for the United States and 20 percent for Canada and 17 percent for the African market respectively. Slowly, the methods adapted to market diversification by the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT) are paying off.
In various classified accommodation establishments (EHTC) since the beginning of 2017 the tourist in flow is highly reflected. A growth in overnight stays of 14.8 percent, with an increase of 20.2 percent for non-residents and 4.1 percent for residents, as per the EHTC record till the end of February.
