Yogyakarta’s double-decker bus enables tourists to explore Maliaboro

The Yogyakarta city administration is operating a special sightseeing double-decker bus titled ‘Domapan’ to cater to vacationers during festival of Idul Fitri.
This bus would be available for free from June 9 to June 23.
And the bus would depart from Taman Pintar and travel along Jl. Suryatmajan, Jl. Mataram, Jl. Malioboro, Jl. Margo Mulyo and Jl. Senopati before returning to Taman Pintar.
As reported by a local media agency, the bus operates once a day starting at 10 a.m. from Taman Pintar. Due to heavy traffic along the route, the bus travels at a slow pace, about 10 kilometers per hour.
Afia Rosdiana who is the Yogyakarta Tourism Agency’s Taman Pintar division head mentioned that this is the reason why they chose to operate the bus around 10 a.m. that is the time when traffic is not so heavy.
Since it started operations, Afia said interest in Domapan has been quite high. The tour bus can accommodate 25 passengers.
Yogyakarta Deputy Mayor Heroe Poerwadi is optimistic that Domapan would encourage people to explore the city during the Idul Fitri holiday.
Furthermore, the city is scheduled to host gamelan performances at Tugu KB Taman Parkir Abu Bakar Ali on June 17 to 19.
