The Government will soon be increasing its investment in terms of human capital development related to travel sector and domestic tourism in order to boost earnings from the sector, as confirmed by Dr. Thokozile Chitepo, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry.
Of late, Dr. Chitepo urged tourism players while speaking in the Victoria Falls to put hard work in developing the industry which can do much better than this year’s $800 million receipts along with 2.5 million arrivals annually.
Over 12 percent of the GDP has been contributed by the tourism sector and country’s one of the important economic drivers.
To quote Chitepo, “The vision is far bigger and we could be talking billions if we do well, so let’s all play a part in developing tourism. The ministry of tourism is going to prioritize key projects that will maximize opportunities for the people of Zimbabwe to participate in tourism. We expect that players continue with job creation as part of Zim-Asset as we want ordinary Zimbabweans to participate in all sectors.”
She highlighted that the nation cannot succeed in terms of overseas tourism unless have a powerful domestic base.
