Zimbabwe will shortly disclose a national tourism master plan. This plan will be utilized to endorse domestic travel. Besides, it will target on establishing 11 tourism development zones all through Zimbabwe.
In the coming two decades, this plan is anticipated to raise development and success of the industry and will assist the country in becoming one of the top five tourism destinations in Southern African Development Community. If we look back, in 2014, the African Development Bank accessed almost $4 million to finance the development of NTMP. Walter Mzembi, Tourism and Hospitality Minister explained that the plan majorly aimed in expanding the performance of the sector around biodiversity of the country.
To quote Mzembi, “the NTMP will work as a guide in product development and diversification, infrastructural and manpower development, community participation and preservation of nature, culture and heritage.”
The plan was developed by the Italian company, Keios Tourism International Consultancy Company with the support of the locals.
