In line with the global name, Zimbabwe launched the year of sustainable tourism for development under the theme, “Travel, Enjoy and Respect” last week. In many developing countries including in Zimbabwe, tourism ranks as the top export sector, generating considerable number of jobs. According to the latest Africa Tourism report, tourism industry in Africa showed excellent progress in the recent years.
Despite negative aspects and terrorist incidents, Morocco, Egypt and Tunisia are best preferred African tourist destinations. South Africa is also another top African tourism destination. Hence, due to its proximity with South Africa, Zimbabwe too has huge potential to grow its tourism industry and it should make use of proper marketing. It has rich flora and fauna, international heritage sites, historic sites, serene landscapes and sanctuaries.
