There has been a double-digit growth of 17.5% in Maldives in the number of UK travellers visiting in March this year as compared to the same period last year.
A total of 11,829 UK travellers visited the Maldives as compared to 10,063 in March 2017.
The first quarter of 2018 saw 32,633 UK tourists which represented 12.2% increase while in 2017 it had some 29,088 people from UK.
On a global scale Maldives showed a recorded 18.5% year-on-year increase in the number of international visitor arrival, having 133,466 arrivals in March 2018. The global arrival came to 420,103 in the first three months of 2018. It showed a positive growth of 17 % as compared to the same period last year.
By opening 23 new resorts Maldives will be further confirming its status as the most attractive holiday destination for the UK tourist. In the fourth quarter of 2018 it is bekleived to be the world’s first undersea residence at Conrad Maldives Rangali Island.
Moosa Zameer, the Maldives’ Minister of Tourism stated that he was pleased to see a significant rise in both the number of UK and international tourists to Maldives. This was due to the work carried out by the Embassy of Maldives, MMPRC and the tourism industry stakeholders at large.
UK will remain as a valuable inbound markets for tourism to the Maldives and he was looking forward to welcoming more visitors in the year ahead.
