So far there has been 17,000 confirmed cases of cornavirus in China as on February 3 and 361 deaths in China and one in Phillippines has been confirmed.
Hua Chunying, the country’s Foreign Minister spokesperson said that although China has suspended large events and locked down internal travels, he has hit out at tough US counter-measures stating that the US actions could create and spread fear.
The first to impose a travel ban on Chinese travellers was the US and it suggested the partial withdrawal of its embassy staff.
Hua Chunying said that in precisely developed countries like the US with strong epidemic capabilities that have taken the lead in imposing excessive restrictions which is contrary to WHO recommendations.
Similar bans have been imposed in Australia and Singapore but New Zealand and Isreal have banned visitors from mainland China.
A single case each has been reported by half a dozen other countries.
An advisory statement was also issued by the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) on the website. It stated -In general, it is good practice in situations like these to stay calm, communicate responsibly and follow official health and travel advice. We suggest to regularly check the latest information on the Novel Coronavirus outbreak of the World Health Organization and your National Travel Advisory Board’s official foreign travel advice.
