£2.85m funding will help NI tourism, says the minister

The funding package, which will be delivered by Tourism NI, is targeted at assisting the sector in improving its marketing and sales initiatives during autumn and winters. A target of it will be to develop the gateway presence at our local airports and help prominent travel tour operators. Also, it will offer additional marketing and business events branding and is planned to provide better customer experience and to grow the global brand of Northern Ireland as a prime destination for corporate and international tour operators.


After a visit to the International Airport of Belfast, which recently grabbed funding to refurbish its domestic arrivals corridor, Minister Lyons said that this £2.85m funding will help the sector further to advertise Northern Ireland as a prime global destination for tourism and business travellers. As per the recently available tourism industry statistics point out to a positive come back in terms of growth and support his dedication to make the tourism industry secure and take it to the pre-pandemic heights.


He said that this funding will further allow the tourism businesses and attractions to exploit into the market of North American tour operator, generate sales and market initiatives to local as well as global markets and to endorse Northern Ireland internationally as a prime destination for business and corporate events.


Turning to the way Belfast International Airport has been supported, the Minister said that the funding has allowed BIA to turn and respond to industry challenges in the best way.
