As per a recent study, the financial impact of the 2023 Shreveport-Bossier Mardi Gras parades was almost $20 million. This study was carried on by the Tourist Bureau and Shreveport-Bossier Convention.
The study performed by Wysong Brand solutions emphasized the effect of the Krewes of Sobek, Harambee, Gemini, Centaur and Highland vied with numbers existed pre-COVID times.
Also, the study unveiled a huge percentage of out-of-town visitors taking part in the parades in 2023 compared to 2019. A probable 225,000 people took part in the five parades. Around 41% of them had come from outside region.
In 2023, Shreveport Mardi Gras parades generated $19.6 million in financial impact. This somewhat dropped from the economic impact in 2019; however, from outside the area, the Shreveport-Bossier area had more visitors, staying overnight for the five parades.
Shreveport-Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau president and CEO, Stacy Brown, said that they are thrilled that the Mardi Gras season carries on bringing visitors from outside and the financial impact is in an upward trend from 2019. Stacy added that they are two cities providing something genuinely unique that one cannot find anywhere else, and they are keen to see that these numbers mirror that.
