4.92 billion revenue earned by Cambodia tourism in 2019

A Tourism Ministry report released that Cambodia’s tourism earned a gross revenue of 4.92 billion U.S dollars last year showing a 13 percent increase as compared to the year before.

There were 6.61 million international tourists last year  which was up by 6.6 percent from the year earlier.

 

The biggest source of tourists to the kingdom was China followed by Vietnam and Thailand. It added some 2.36 million Chinese last which was 16.7 percent year up year-on-year.

Cambodia’s gross domestic product (GDP) last year saw 12.1 percent contribution from the tourism sector.

 

This year the country expected to receive 6.45 million international tourists this year, noticing a drop of 2.4 percent due to the impact of COVID-19.

 

The Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Teco Hun Sen announced  that the government decided to provide all kinds of tax breaks for all hotels and guesthouses in northwestern Siem Reap province for a period of four months from February to May.

 

The tax exemption was aimed at helping them overcame the difficult moment as tourism is is on eof the four sectors which supports the economy.
