fourthAccording to the American Automobile Association (AAA) about 46.9 million Americans will be travelling 50 miles over the upcoming July Fourth holiday. This will mark the fifth consecutive annual increase and highest travel volume after the group started tracking data since the past 18 years.

The higher gasoline prices could not deter the U.S. citizens  from travelling via road, rails and airports in record numbers this Fourth of July holiday.

From July 3 to July 8 the holiday period is said to last. Since 2018 the gas prices have gone down from $2.97 a gallon over the Memorial Day weekend, last week in May and the national average gas price was $2.87 on Wednesday.

The AAA stated that despite higher prices, the automobile travel will increase for the fourth straight year. This showed a surge of 5.1 percent or around 2 million more than in 2017 to 39.7 million travellers.

Bill Sutherland, senior vice president, AAA Travel and Publishing stated that confident consumers with additional disposable income will be spending on travel and will build on the already busy summer travel season.

As the holiday will fall on Wednesday the air travel is facilitated with more flexibility to either fly before or after the holiday.  There has been an increase in passengers to 3.76 millions which is 7.9 percent more than last year.

Due to the strong summer driving season, the U.S. gasoline demand accounting for 10 percent of the global demand has hit records.
