The Maldives Monetary Authority stated that the first three months of 2018, the tourism occupancy rate in Maldives reached 75 percent showing 5 percent growth as compared to the same period last year.
This was due to the increased average guest night stay as per the Maldives Central Bank’s quarterly business survey.
The prime assessment factor in understanding tourism industry performance is guest visits to the island nation.
There was a 17 percent increase in the first quarter of 2018 in comparison to the same period last year. The average night stay of tourists also surged by 18 percent and the tourism industry earned 993.5 million U.S. dollars in the first quarter of 2018.
This showed a 20 percent rise from last year and as per latest statistics from the Tourism Ministry 726,515 holidaymakers have visited the Maldives during the first six months of 2018.
This showed 10.5 percent increase in tourist arrivals from 2017.
