ABTA: Millions of British travellers fail to check travel advice

ABTAAs per ABTA one in three British travellers admitted planned their travel itinerary without going through key guidance or information about the destination.
Before setting off millions of holidaymakers are travelling abroad without updating themselves with the latest travel advice.

 

 

 

About 34% of the holidaymakers surveyed stated that they already knew everything they wanted to know according to the YouGov data.

 

 

Currency issues, vaccination and other safety concerns were not checked by many before travelling to any destination and only three in 10 did that.

 

 

The travelers were insisted by ABTA to read the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) advice before travelling to many foreign  land. Further, ABTA also urged its members to go through the association’s online resources and bring the best communication travel advice to the clients.

 

 

About 67% of the travellers checked some travel advice before heading to a destination, 59% researched for the currency, 56% looked for healthcare, 54% entry requirements and 53%safety and security according to ABTA.

 

 

Information about local laws and customers like smoke ban on some of the popular places, restriction on public consumption of alcohol or walking shirtless/in bathing gear were assessed by 41 % travellers.

 

 

Nikki White, Abta director of destinations and sustainability while majority of the holidaymakers are looking for travel advices before planning their trip but most of them do not look into the rights places for the latest updates.

 
It is advisable to check the lastest FCO advice even though if someone had travelled the country many times before because the laws in countries constantly keeps changing.

 

The FCO travel advice is the ideal place to get all the authentic information on the holiday destination.

 
The FCO travel advice was checked by one out of six holidaymakers before departure  while about 25% checked the travel review website.
