Abu Dhabi has been investing in world-class venues in order to establish itself as a destination for large-scale events and conferences. And it’s now rewarding event planners even more by eliminating a 10% tax.

Tourism tax will no longer be levied on event organisers in Abu Dhabi. An event in Abu Dhabi was subject to a 10% tax on each ticket sold.

“For further support to the investment environment in the emirate of Abu Dhabi, it has been decided to exempt event organizers from the tourism fee of 10 percent on tickets sold,” a circular from the Department of Culture and Tourism, Abu Dhabi stated recently.

The circular further said that event organisers must obtain event licences in compliance with the regulations set forth for this purpose.

Event organisers must also disclose the money earned by these events, present supporting financial documents, and work with revenue auditors or persons approved by the department of Culture and Tourism to confirm the accuracy of their declarations.
