Adventure activites in Srinagar from the Zabarwan hills at Harwan

The Chief Secretary, Dr.Arun Kumar Mehta showed the green flag to the heartening adventure activities of the Tourism Department that started in Srinagar from the Zabarwan hills at Harwan. A number of activities were held under the tagline of ‘Spirit of Adventure & Healthy Life’.

Among these adventure activities are Paragliding from Astanmarg top to Chandpora ground. The flight includes a vertical drop of 2000 ft which is supposed to be a hit with adventure lovers and tourists.

Dr. Mehta praised the department for organizing such adventure activities. These activities arestimulating and attractivefor all regardless of class or category.

Dr. Mehta said that J&K has a lot of prospective in adventurous activities and it needs to be fully utilized for overall benefit of all stakeholders, especially theweak sections of the society who are often unnoticed due todetachment.

Astanmarg is a meadow on the top of Zabarwan range near Srinagar city at an altitude of 7300 feet above sea level, overlooking the Dal Lake. Mahadev peak, Dachigam National Park, Mughal Gardens, Hariparbat fort are other picturesque spots in Srinagar.

Among other adventure activities being planned by the Department are Mountain Biking and trekking activities upto and around Astanmargalong with a cycling trail from Srinagar upto the upper belt of Dara.

Many adventure players have taken part in various activities carried on throughout the day. Many more activities have been planned this tourism season under this adventure program.
