With the second wave of Covid-19 slowing down a bit, the Agra administration has approved the reopening of the Taj Mahal from 6 am.

Previously, the Taj Mahal was open between 7 am and 6 pm, which made tourists missing the golden look of the monument at dawn.

Agra Tourist Welfare Chamber President Prahalad Agarwal said that the Taj Mahal’s beauty is best captured during the first light of dawn, early in the morning, and during the evening hours.

Tourists coming from all over the world desire this look of the Taj Mahal and visit the monument during the early morning and evening hours.

For the past few months, this exclusive view was not possible due to the Covid restrictions on the opening timing, placed by the state government and the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). But now, with easing of those restrictions, tourists can view the Taj Mahal at dawn again.

Other monuments in Agra will also open from 6 am to 6 pm now on. Since viewing the Taj Mahal at dawn meant tourists will have to come a day early and stay in Agra for the night, this will also provide a relief to the hospitality industry of Agra, which has been experiencing bad times for two years due to the pandemic.
