Agra tourism industry hopeful with more air connectivity to the city

The Agra tourism industry is hopeful once again, with more cities are gearing up for getting air connected with the cityof Taj.


Before the commencement of the new tourist season in the month of September, the outlook of the new cities to be added to the list is a positive step, opined the hoteliers. The local MPs are tracking the request for worldwide air connectivity.


Senior hotelier SandipArorasaid that Agra will benefit a lotwith landing of direct flights from global destinations in the city.


The Ministry ofCivil Aviation has specified that flights from Indore and Goa have the possibility of operating within a month. There are also demands to launch a direct flight from Mysore to Agra, which are indeed two important tourist destinations of India.


Last week, Indigo airlines started flights from Ahmedabad to Agraas a result ofcontinuous demands from local businessmen. These flights would operate three days a week.


Agra is now connected by airto five cities — Bengaluru, Lucknow,Bhopal, AhmedabadandMumbai. An official from the airport said that flights to Goa and Indore are expected to start at the earliest.


The Agra local tourism industry is confident that the Prime Minister of India NarendraModi would stick to his assurance of permitting international flights for landing at the local Kheria airport, which is now rechristened as PanditDeenDayal Airport. This would help foreign visitors to fly into Agra directly without having to stop in Delhi or Mumbai, thereby saving a lot of time.
