Air France and the Association Personn’ailes celebrate international day against homophobia, transphobia and biphobia

Air France and many of its employees have an active and long-standing commitment to fighting all forms of discrimination based on gender identity or sexual orientation. This commitment notably aims to promote an inclusive work environment in which all employees can be themselves.

As part of this commitment, Air France implements a policy based on four main priorities

• Creating an inclusive environment for all LGBT+ employees;
• Ensuring equal rights and treatment for all employees, regardless of their sexual orientation;
• Supporting employees who are victims of discriminatory comments or actions;
• Measuring progress and sharing best practices in order to improve the general working environment.

Air France works all year round with Personn’Ailes, the LGBT+ association set up over 20 years ago within the company. This collaboration has led to concrete actions and significant progress in this area.  

In 2019, the company signed the LGBT commitment charter of the association l’Autre Cercle. Since 1997, its members have been helping to fight discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity in the workplace.

This is why, on 17th May 2023 marking international day against homophobia, transphobia and biphobia, it was important to highlight this commitment and raise awareness about the actions carried out. A series of special events is being organized within the Air France group’s companies, with company frontline staff and flight crews.  

  – The adaptation of the Air France logo in the colours of the rainbow flag on the company’s social media aims to clearly demonstrate the company’s support of the different actions organized to fight discrimination against individuals based on their gender identity or sexual orientation. 

–   Organization of special “Rainbow” flights to Montreal and Dusseldorf for Air France and to Malaga and Seville for Transavia.  

These flights are organized every year by the association Personn’Ailes in collaboration with Air France, which gives its full support demonstrated by the presence of several members of the company’s Executive Committee. The crew of the Air France flight to Montreal is exclusively made up of members of the association wearing the rainbow badge on the uniform. Special announcements will be made on board and the Rainbow flag will be waved through the cockpit window on arrival in Canada. For Personn’Ailes, this date will also be the occasion to sign in Montreal a partnership with the association Egides* in the presence of Mrs Vanessa Kanga, planning advisor for the diversity and social inclusion department of the city of Montreal, representative of the Consul General of France in Montreal; Mr Robert Beaudry, city councillor and member of the executive committee and Mr Jean Eudes De La Bretèche, General Manager Canada at Air France-KLM.

Alongside these awareness actions, an in-house webinar dedicated to the visibility of lesbian women in the workplace will be organized in June in collaboration with Personn’Ailes and the association L’autre Cercle.
